Prologue; Hyrule's History

The Goddesses in the beginning created the world. A red object flew over the world of black nothingness. Din, the feared Goddess of beauty, fire, and Bearer of the Triforce of Power created the land and mountains and rivers and canyons and deserts with her powerful arms. From her feared tongue she spoke "Thou art the land. Inanimate and untended, thou shalt allow life to spring forth on thy back." She saw and it was good.
A green object shot over this land as a comet, bringing life. Farore, the elegant Goddess of hearth, life and the Bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom created plants, animals, the air for the creatures to breathe and water to drink were created as she spoke the words from her elegant tongue "Bring forth thyselves, and be fruitful. Multiply in numbers and inhabit this world."  She saw and it was good.
A blue object sailed over the inhabitants' land, seeing disappointment. The creatures had no righteousness, no morality. Last but not least, Nayru, the graceful Goddess of love, water, and the Bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom created rules, morals, and just hearts among the creatures. From her graceful tongues she spoke "Creatures who were born from my sister Farore, and who live upon the world my sister Din hath create, I grant thee knowledge and righteousness. Be true and live pure lives." She saw and it was very good.
The three Goddesses looked upon the world they created, and bestowed the shards of Triforce they bear. Lifting their right hands up, a golden triangle with perfect edges and sides shone brightly the triangles came together to form a larger one, two side by side with one resting upon the top.
"Our deeds are done. To you, creatures whom we created and whom live upon our world, we bestow our magic, the sacred entities that are the Triforce. We will leave the Triforce in your world."
With that the Goddesses shimmered in red, green, and blue comets up to Heaven, the Unreachable Skies. Of their last breaths spoken directly to the creatures, they spoke in unison
"He who touches this Triforce will have whatever he desires granted. If it is touched by an unbalanced heart, the Sacred Triforce shall split into their designated entities; Power, Wisdom, and Courage. With an unbalanced heart, he who touches it will be granted the Triforce shard that he covets most of the three.
"If he who touches it has a pure heart, desiring the shards equally, he shall have whatever he desires granted, and the world will prosper in a golden age. He who touches it shall rule over this land in justice and peace."
The Triforce, the only physical item left behind from the Goddesses reminds the inhabitants of the world to be pure of heart and live in peace, and yet as it happens, a race known as Hylians, kept secret the location of this ancient and pure relic as directed by the Goddesses since the dawn of time. Only those closest to the Royal Family know of its whereabouts.  Despite odds of protection, the Triforce was found. Alas, the man who found it was not Hylian, but Gerudo. The Gerudo King sought the Triforce in desire for more power. Naturally his unbalanced heart gave him only the shard of Power. The shards of Wisdom and Courage were given by two others, merely by chance.
With his thirst for more power, and yet ironically not quenched by the Triforce Shard of Power, sought out the other pieces of the Triforce. A hero traveled greatly through the depths of time, bestowed with the Triforce or Courage, and fought an epic battle to the death with the Gerudo King (commonly referred to the King of Evil) in hopes of stopping the Evil King's reign of terror.
A hero, nonetheless nothing more than a Hylian was much praised for his efforts and victory and renowned as the Hero of Time. Time and time again the Evil King and Hero fought, doomed to the accursed fate of history repeating itself. Each battle, however, (after the Evil King's downfall) grows more powerful. His power became overwhelming. Each downfall however, he loses something. In countless battles, the Hero's descendants take down the reign of evil, each with escalating difficulty.
This epic battle, never to be ended, this legend, as old as time itself, is known as the Legend of Zelda.
